FOSTER/ADOPT WITH TRIBE!

SAVING A LIFE HAS NEVER BEEN SO REWARDING!

Tribe Dog Training and Rescue is an all-volunteer animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals and educating the community on responsible pet ownership. Tribe does not have a facility of its own. Instead; we rely solely on a wonderful foster program while our dogs wait to find forever homes. Tribe dogs that are available for adoption have all passed behavior evaluations and have NO Bite History. Though some cannot be with other animals or children (this will be noted in individual profiles), these canines are suitable and safe for public adoption.
Please simply email us at TribeDogTraining@gmail.com for applications to foster or adopt from Tribe.

FOSTER

FREE

Tribe saves many homeless canines each year! We cannot work to find these precious souls forever homes without the help of our caring foster families. You provide safety, basic life training, and love; Tribe will provide everything else you may need!
Not only are you saving the life of your foster pup, but also the life of the next dog who takes their place in the shelter. When we pull dogs from the shelter, we evaluate and match them to an appropriate foster family. Then Tribe works to find a suitable forever family.

FOUND A STRAY?

NEED IMMEDIATE HELP?

Tribe is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. We do not take in strays from out of state unless cleared by a stray hold from a shelter. When concerning a stray in Indianapolis, please know we are a foster based rescue and help stray animals at our discretion.
Below we have resource links available if you need immediate help with a stray animal.

KNOW YOUR CITY LAWS

Every city has their own stray laws. Please be aware of what you can legally do when dealing with a stray. Most of the time-  foster based rescues are not able to take in immediate surrenders. Search for City Shelters and Humane Societies that have Rescue Partnerships that pull animals from their facility & start there. You can also search for your local rescues on Petfinder no matter where you live!

INDIANAPOLIS STRAY LAWS

– Marion County – Section 531-208 as us March 2, 2017– Lost and Stray Domestic Animals – states that “With the exception of the Humane Society of Indianapolis or other humane and/or breed rescue organizations recognized by the animal care services division, the finder will be considered the found animal’s owner for purposes of this chapter fourteen (14) continuous days after the found report was files with the animal care services division or its designee.” Hamilton County thirty (30) continuous days, Madison County seven (7) days, Boone County seven (7) days, & Hendricks County seven (7) days. In simple terms, for Marion County, this means, “You cannot rehome the pet (unless the potential family understands that the owners have 14 days to claim it and that they must ACTIVELY try to find its family during that time).”

LOCAL SHELTERS & RESCUES

One of the most important steps of finding a pet is to have it scanned for a microchip.  It can be done at any vet office or shelter FREE of charge as a walk in service. If it is after hours, an ER Vet can even help!
Notify Indianapolis Animal Care Services and Indy Humane and Indy Lost Pet Alert to report that you found a pet within 24 hours!
You can even notify local veterinarians that this pet has been found in case they receive a LOST report from the owner.
Know when picking up a stray, you are taking responsibility for that animal. If you cannot personally house that animal until an owner or safe placement is found, odds are you will have to surrender it to a local shelter. Most rescues are not able to take in strays but there is a list of 501(c)3 Indianapolis rescues provided below.
